City-Building Survival Romp Frostpunk 2 Nabs September 18 Release Date On PS5

Frostpunk 2 has been handed a September 18, 2025 release date by developer 11 bit studios on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with Skybound Games also offering a physical version of the game.

Speaking in a press release, Igor Skinbinksi, Production Coordinator for Frostpunk 2, commented:

Initially, we tried to carry over as many interface solutions as possible [from PC to console]. But the two games differ so much in terms of gameplay that we had to adapt and rework those systems over time. Still, our main focus was to make interaction with the game feel seamless—so players never have to think about how to play while they’re playing. Our ambition is to once again prove that even complex strategy games can feel intuitive and satisfying on consoles.

Beyond the standard edition of the game, Frostpunk 2 will also receive an Icebreaker Edition and Whiteout Edition. The former includes the full game on disc, pop-up diorama of New London, the Warm Flesh digital novella, and behind-the-scenes digital art book. Finally, the Whiteout Edition includes the following:

  • Icebreaker Edition contents
  • Multi-layered shadow box featuring integrated LED lighting and iconic key art
  • Deluxe Edition upgrade, granting access to the three upcoming downloadable contents
  • Deluxe metal-and-enamel keychain
  • Two premium New London art postcards
  • Frostpunk-themed stickers
  • One of two possible embroidered faction patches: either the disciplined Technocrats or the fervent Icebloods.

Frostpunk 2 opens as your city has grown substantially since the previous game, with players now able to construct entire districts, including housing and industrial zones within months. Citizens now number in their thousands, not hundreds, which brings more challenges for you in your attempts to govern the population. In addition, citizens can now establish communities and factions, although siding with one can create tensions in the other — diligent management of alliance is required.
