Pokémon Sleep sleepwalks to $182.8m in two years

The Pokémon Company’s sleeper hit Pokémon Sleep has celebrated its second anniversary with $182.8 million in gross player spending
According to AppMagic’s latest estimates, the sleep tracker game generated $103.1m in ts first year across the App Store and Google Play. In its second year, it accumulated $79.7m, equivalent to 77% of its earnings achieved in year one.
Less than legendary?
Pokémon Sleep’s daily player spending peaked early at $920,000 on November 19th, 2023. The month overall was its second most-lucrative at $10.5m, slightly shy of Augsut 2023’s $10.6m.
In year two, October 2024 was the game’s best-performing month at $8.2m, and the title is yet to fall below $5m in monthly revenue.
Over the course of two years, many of Pokémon Sleep’s most lucrative periods have occurred during Legendary events, where rare, powerful Pokémon have appeared for limited times.
Such events have been monetised by guaranteeing an encounter with a Legendary Pokémon by using specific Incence, obtainable through completing missions and exchanging items or by purchasing bundles.
However, of the four Legendary events thus far, year two’s pair triggered smaller spending spikes than those seen in year one.
The most lucrative among year one’s was the Raikou event on March 25th, 2024, with the game generating $776,000 on the first day of the event. This was compared to $233,000 one week earlier on the 18th, and $327,000 one week later on April 1st.
By comparison, year two’s Legendary events peaked at $516,000 on September 9th, 2024 and $473,000 on March 31st, 2025. The latter leveraged thematically apt Legendary Pokémon Cresselia and Darkrai, bringing good dreams and nightmares respectively, but despite this saw the lowest revenue peak among Legendary events thus far.
Spending surges
However, that doesn’t mean these events failed. September’s Suicune event, for example, triggered a 148% daily spending spike at the start of the event. March’s Cresselia and Darkrai event saw a 135% spending surge on its first day, and daily spend remained above pre-event levels for 16 consecutive days.
Meanwhile, Pokémon Sleep’s strongest performance in year two was on December 30th, when it earned $563,000 with the end of its Holiday 2024 event and the beginning of its New Years 2025 event. This was during a more lucrative period for the game overall, meaning daily spending only rose by 25% on this day.
The latest in-game event is a celebration for the second anniversary, taking place from July 14th to 28th. In addition to new early 2000s Pokémon Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip making their debut, celebrations include various in-game missions and a new photo mode.
The top performing Pokémon titles on mobile are Go and Trading Card Game Pocket. Sleep currently sits behind Pokémon Masters for total revenue, which has a four-year lead over Sleep – though it’s currently generating more revenue each month.
