Assassin’s Creed Live-Action Series Greenlit At Netflix, Focuses On ‘Secret War Between Two Shadowy Factions’
A live-action series of Ubisoft’s multi-million selling Assassin’s Creed franchise has been officially greenlit by streaming giant Netflix, which will be headed by Roberto Patino and David Wiener, who are best known for their work on Sons of Anarchy and Halo, respectively.
According to the press blurb, the live-action Assassin’s Creed series will focus on a series of characters throughout key historical events while chronicling the war between two shadowy factions, which are no doubt the Assassins Brotherhood and the Templar Order.
Ubisoft Film & Television’s Executive Producer and Head of Content, Margaret Boykin, commented:
We are so excited to work alongside Roberto, David, and our Netflix partners to bring this beloved franchise to series. We look forward to delivering an experience that speaks to the heart of what fans love about Assassin’s Creed, while introducing its unforgettable worlds and timeless themes to new audiences worldwide.

Meanwhile, Patino and Wiener issued the following joint statement:
We’ve been fans of Assassin’s Creed since its release in 2007. Every day we work on this show, we come away excited and humbled by the possibilities that Assassin’s Creed opens to us. Beneath the scope, the spectacle, the parkour and the thrills is a baseline for the most essential kind of human story – about people searching for purpose, struggling with questions of identity and destiny and faith. It is about power and violence and sex and greed and vengeance.
But more than anything, this is a show about the value of human connection, across cultures, across time. And it’s about what we stand to lose as a species, when those connections break. We’ve got an amazing team behind us with the folks at Ubisoft and our champions at Netflix, and we’re committed to creating something undeniable for fans all over the planet.
Assassin’s Creed first arrived back in 2007 for PS3, PC, and Xbox 360, and spawned a hugely successful franchise that took the series to periods including the Italian Renaissance, the American War of Independence, Golden Age of Piracy, and Victorian Britain
The latest entry in the Assassin’s Creed video game franchise launched on March 20, 2025 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, and quickly attracted three million players globally with over 40 million hours played. You can read our full verdict on Assassin’s Creed Shadows here.
