While the deals and the stats of the gaming world are important, nothing would happen without the research, funding and, of course, development that goes into making a great game.
So here’s a collection of the most exciting new mobile games right now, the developers and publishers behind them, and why, exactly, they’ve made the cut.
Fortnite
Epic Games’ Fortnite has returned to the US App Store after nearly five years following a legal victory over Apple. The game was removed back in 2020, which came after Epic introduced an alternative payment system to bypass Apple’s infamous 30% commission.
However, a recent court ruling that allows developers to link to external payment methods has seen the return of Fortnite. The game now features a 20% cash-back offer for players buying in-game items using Epic’s payment system.
Dunk City Dynasty
After attracting five million pre-registrations, NetEase Games’ street basketball title Dunk City Dynasty has launched on mobile with officially licenced players included from the NBA and NBPA.
In-game, players can take charge of international sports stars in 3v3 and 5v5 game modes, bouncing and trouncing over the competition while completing daily and monthly tasks. There are also various rewards to be collected by early players for hitting the pre-registration goal.
Mutants: Genesis
After two years of early access on PC, Celsius Online has officially rolled out the competitive card game Mutants: Genesis on iOS and Android. The cross-platform title sends players to a dystopian future full of genetically modified mutants and master-strategist Psycogs.
Players can jump into solo play, PvP duels or 3-player cooperative PvE, battling and trading with over 200 cards as of launch.
Big Brother: The Game
Nazara-owned Fusebox Games has launched Big Brother: The Game.
As the name states, the title brings the popular TV franchise to mobile in a narrative-driven story where players create their character and can get involved in themes seen in the show, such as taking part in challenges, nominating housemates and dealing with evictions.
The game is available now on iOS and Android worldwide.
Hello Kitty Friends Match
The Hello Kitty franchise has its latest mobile game in the form of Hello Kitty Friends Match, a match-3 puzzle title featuring familiar faces like Kuromi, Cinnamoroll and of course Hello Kitty herself.
Line Games and Super Awesome soft launched this Sanrio-licenced game in Canada and the Philippines last month, and now players worldwide can get involved – dressing up characters, overcoming puzzles and restoring a destroyed village.
Drill & Find: Mine Treasure
Stumble Guys maker Kitka Games has a new game on the Play Store titled Drill & Find: Mine Treasure. The casual game sends players out drilling through the Earth’s crust, starting with a simple drill but selling finds along the way to gradually upgrade those digging capabilities – all in the name of uncovering the anomaly at the planet’s core.
Game of Thrones: Dragonfire
Out in soft launch on the Google Play Store in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, Warner Bros’ Game of Thrones: Dragonfire is a new tile-based strategy game based on House of the Dragon.
Set nearly 200 years before Game of Thrones, it features dragons of old like Syrax and Vhagar, ready to be hatched and trained into fire-breathing forces to be reckoned with – bringing chaos to Westeros’ fields of war.
Pit Cat
In another win for cat fans this week, Pit Cat is a new mobile puzzle game from Juanma Altamirano’s with Pit the cartoony cat as its titular protagonist. The aim of the game is simple: launch Pit precisely through 100 levels and collect all the starts – without hitting obstacles or flying off the course.
Babytopia
Elementa Games’ Babytopia is now available globally on Android and iOS, enabling players everywhere to investigate the disappearance of best friend Charlotte through match-3 gameplay. By completing these puzzles, players can expect to unlock new areas to further unravel the mystery, coming gradually closer to discovering the truth.
