Gears Of War: Reloaded Beta Seemingly Happening Ahead Of Xbox Release

At the start of this month, Microsoft officially announced Gears of War: Reloaded for Xbox Series X|S, PC and PS5 – with the full game arriving in just a few months here in August 2025. However, the team seemingly has time to sneak in a pre-release beta for the title – at least, that’s what a new Steam database entry suggests.

Spotted online and recently shared on Reddit, a beta page has been posted for Gears of War: Reloaded. The game itself is now listed as ‘PenPL’ after a recent update – but the app type says ‘Beta’, with the parent app being listed as Gears of War: Reloaded at this time.

The Steam database entry doesn’t mention anything about a release date for this Gears beta, but we’d expect it to arrive pretty soon. As we mentioned at the top, the full game is out in roughly three months – so you’d expect a beta to arrive fairly sharpish to make sure all’s well for that August release. An Xbox Games Showcase shadow drop, perhaps? It’s certainly a possibility!

As for the contents of this beta, well, Gears: Reloaded is basically Gears of War: Ultimate Edition with a fresh coat of paint – so Xbox players should know what to expect here. The existence of this beta is likely to test out the game’s console cross-play functionality more than anything else, with the series making its PS5 debut via this release.
