EA Cuts Hundreds Of Jobs, Respawn Announces Two Cancelled Games

We’ve unfortunately got more news about job cuts to bring your way today, as a new report from Bloomberg is suggesting that around 300-400 jobs have been lost at EA, with around 100 of those being at Respawn Entertainment.

Respawn has actually put out a statement confirming that two games have been cancelled internally, and Bloomberg says that one of those was an extraction shooter set in the Titanfall universe. Here’s a bit of Respawn’s statement:

“As we sharpen our focus for the future, we’ve made the decision to step away from two early-stage incubation projects and make some targeted team adjustments across Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi.”

Despite this, Respawn says that Apex Legends will continue to expand and the next chapter of the Star Wars Jedi series will aim to “raise the bar again for storytelling and gameplay.”

Meanwhile, Bloomberg quoted an EA spokesperson who advised the company has “made select changes within our organization that more effectively aligns teams and allocates resources in service of driving future growth”.

Sadly, it sounds like any potential for a Titanfall 3 has been well and truly quashed now – and the more important thing is that we hope everyone affected by today’s job cuts lands on their feet ASAP.
