How was our Switch 2 pre-order experience? Pure Nintendo Podcast E109

This week on the Pure Nintendo Podcast, Jemma and Kirk discuss the Switch 2 pre-order situation that occured in North America last week.

Last week, we dedicated the entire episode to Mario Kart World. This huge iteration of the long-running series looks absolutely amazing, and although we still have many questions about various aspects of the game, we’re certainly excited to get our hands on this latest outing when the Switch 2 launches in June. By the way, that’s only 38 days away now!

With that in mind, this week we begin counting down to the Switch 2 release on June 5. Pre-orders finally opened in North America last week, and it was a mess to say the least. There were online issues aplenty, and we go through our experience to find out whether we actually managed to snag a pre-order.

We also dive into the topic of game-key cards. What are they are how do they work? And why is everyone so upset about them? Since recording this episode, we also found some very useful information about game-key cards on Nintendo’s website.

We talk about the new Pro Controller, as well as a fun Switch 2 commerical, plus we make time for some games we’re playing, including Star Overdrive and The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy.

With over 100 episodes down, we’re excited to bring you more Nintendo content over the coming months and years. There’s so much to look forward to in 2025 alone with the Nintendo Switch 2 due for release on June 5. So be sure to tune in each and every Monday for the latest dose of all things Nintendo on the Pure Nintendo Podcast!
