PSA: DOOM: The Dark Ages Has An Early Access Upgrade For Xbox Game Pass Players

As has been the case with most recent Xbox first-party releases, next month’s DOOM: The Dark Ages can be played early via a ‘Premium Upgrade’ DLC pack – and this add-on actually contains quite a bit more content besides granting players some early hands-on time.

Yep, the premium upgrade pack for DOOM: The Dark Ages comes with two days of early access, the ‘Divinity’ skin pack, a digital artbook & soundtrack, and also a major campaign DLC. This is a similar setup to recent Bethesda releases like Starfield and Indiana Jones – and we have a similar price point on our hands here as well.

Get a head start on slaying demons with the Premium Upgrade, including up to 2-Day Early Access, the campaign DLC, Digital Artbook and Soundtrack, and the Divinity Skin Pack, which includes matching skins for the DOOM Slayer, dragon and Atlan.

That price point is £31.49 / $31.49 for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, and with the base game heading to the service on day one, you won’t have to shell out any more money for it – with the catch being that you must remain a subscriber post-launch in order to keep playing. Alternatively, there’s a more expensive Premium Edition that contains all the same content as the Upgrade version plus the base game as well.

If you decided to go ahead and pick up this DLC, the new DOOM would be playable on May 13th as opposed to the Standard Edition’s May 15th release date.

As for what you can expect from the included campaign DLC, well, Bethesda hasn’t announced anything just yet – but the team at id Software did a great job with the story add-ons for DOOM Eternal. The two-part Ancient Gods DLC was a fine expansion to the main game back in 2021.
