Resident Evil 5 Rated For Xbox Series X/S By ESRB, So A PS5 Port Is Very Likely On Its Way Too
The Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) has posted up a listed for an Xbox Series X/S version of Resident Evil 5, which almost guarantees a PS5 version is on the cards too, as we can’t imagine it being exclusive to Microsoft hardware. As previously reported, Resident Evil 6 was rated by the ESRB last month.
Resident Evil 5 was originally released for the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 back in March 2009, and introduces co-op to the mainline franchise as BSAA agents Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar venture an African village and surrounding areas to stop a biohazard outbreak. The game builds on the success of Resident Evil 4 with the over-the-shoulder perspective and once again ditches zombies in favour of parasite-infected foes known here as Majini.
It’s also the game where Chris, now looking like he’s spent years living in the gym with arms that would make 80s-era Arnold Schwarzenegger green with envy, punches a massive bounder.

Capcom celebrates 30 years of Resident Evil in March 2026, and has a number of projects in the works for the series including Resident Evil 9, as well as heavily-rumoured remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil CODE: Veronica. With 5 and 6 apparently not getting the remake treatment anytime soon, it would make sense to bring them to current hardware to join the remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4.
