Age Of Empires II: Definitive Edition and Age Of Mythology: Retold will be heading to PS5.
The latest Xbox franchise to be heading to PlayStation, players on PS5 will be able to check out Age Of Mythology: Retold this coming March 4, 2025, while Age Of Empires II: Definitive Edition will be available something this coming spring.
Xbox Game Studios team World’s Edge announced the news with a blog post from the studio leader Michael Mann, along with news regarding a number of other updates for what’ll be happening in the franchise in 2025.
“I’m delighted to share that we are giving fans more choice to play where they want by bringing Age Of Empires II: Definitive Edition and Age Of Mythology: Retold to PlayStation 5,” Mann said in the blog post.
“Playing across all platforms is a game-changer for our franchise, and it’s all about bringing our community together. This isn’t just about convenience – it’s about growing and strengthening the Age community.
With cross-play, we’re creating one global battlefield where every strategy, every empire, and every player matters.”
The upcoming Immortal Pillars expansion that’ll arrive in Age Of Mythology: Retold this March will also be available on PS5 now, alongside its release on other platforms. And if you’re incredibly keen to jump in, then you’ll be able to purchase a premium edition of the game that’ll give you access to it on February 27, 2025.
Players who pre-order Age Of Mythology: Retold will also be granted two exclusive Blessings for the Arena of the Gods game mode
Regarding Age Of Empires II: Definitive Edition, it’ll also have a new DLC expansion dropping the same day as its PS5 launch, though for now World’s Edge is hesitant to share that information until later this coming spring.
In the meantime, it’s once again exciting for PlayStation players that they’ll be able to experience even more previously Xbox-exclusive games. It’ll be interesting to see which game is the next to make the jump.
