Console modder gives the Wii an incredible Pokémon makeover
The 20th anniversary of the Wii isn’t all that far off, which might explain why nostalgia for the system is so strong right now. Those who played the console when they were kids are now adults, and in some cases they have kids of their own. Who could fault those grown-ups for wanting to turn back time and enjoy some classic Nintendo goodness?
Something else gamers are constantly nostalgic for is Pokémon. While the franchise is bigger than ever nowadays, there are still longtime fans and lapsed trainers who long for the earlier days of pocket monsters. That includes a special spot in the hearts of many for the original 151 Pokémon.
Console modder BigRig Creates has honed in on this double-dose of nostalgia with his latest hardware makeover, and it’s one of the most interesting yet. Check out the video above to get a detailed breakdown of the PorWiigon, a Wii that has been given a Porygon makeover. It’s bright, ostentatious, and all kinds of awesome. While those unfamiliar with Pokémon might see the mod as an eyesore, decades-old Pokémon fans will no doubt love it top to bottom.
