Solid Snake Voice Actor David Hayter Teases Possible Return To His Iconic Metal Gear Solid Role
David Hayter, the voice actor behind Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid games, has teased on X that he may be lending his talents to the character again after a long absence.
Hayter wrote, “I was in the booth today. Paying a role I’ve not played, since…” accompanied by a GIF of Naked Snake from Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater. While not explicitly confirming he’s voicing Snake again, it certainly looks like he could be strapping on the legendary mercenary’s sneaking suit once again.

Hayter voice Snake in Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots before being replaced in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes & The Phantom Pain by Kiefer Sutherland. He also popped up as Snake in various cameo appearances, such as Super Smash Bros. Brawl and other titles.
It’s worth remembering that Konami has tapped Hayter to front their new Legacy series of videos highlighting the Metal Gear Solid franchise, which is great to see.
Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater is currently in development for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, and uses the original voice recordings from 2004’s MGS3 Snake Eater, including Hayter as Naked Snake.
