Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii Is Roughly 1.3 – 1.5 Times Larger Than The Man Who Erased His Name
Developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has revealed during its RGG Summit 2024 that the newly-announced Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii is going to be around 1.3 — 1.5 times larger than Like A Dragon Maiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.
Speaking at the event, RGG’s Masayoshi Yokoyama commented (via Google translation):
Ryu ga Gotoku 7 Gaiden”), the story is about 1.3 to 1.5 times larger. We don’t even know the exact area of the city itself, which is the setting… Of course there is Honolulu City, which appeared in “Ryu ga Gotoku 8” , and there are various other stages such as Mad Lantis, so I think the game volume is much larger than when “Ryu ga Gotoku 7 Gaiden” was released. I feel like the concept of a Gaiden = a compact work is gradually disappearing from us.

In addition, it was also revealed that there are still ‘many surprises’ left to be announced for Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii, which features fan-favourite Goro Majima washing up in a beach having lost his memory. He then ends up commanding his own pirate ship and crew, sailing the seas in search of loot while duffing up bad guys using his new Sea Dog combat style.
Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii is scheduled for release on February 27, 2025 for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
