‘Teeny Tiny Town’, ‘Grimvalor’, ‘Honkai Star Rail’, ‘Royal Match’, and More – TouchArcade
Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. I tried digging around this week to find some games we don’t usually see in this feature, and I think I found a few goodies to spice up the usual cast and crew. Hopefully it’s a good enough list to entertain you on this lazy day. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!
MARVEL Future Fight, Free
I guess we’re kind of still between Marvel things, but updates have to come. Marvel Future Fight has always been good at looking to the comics for inspiration, and that’s what we’ve got here. The X-Force Vol. 2 update brings the nefarious Omega Red to the game, plus some new suits for Cable, Stryfe, and Domino. Cable gets his Tier-4, Stryfe gets his Tier-3, and Domino gets a rock. You can also look forward to a new Doctor Strange-themed card collection, some gameplay tweaks, and a few other random bits and bobs. X-Force! They’re like the X-Men, but with more guns and pouches!
Jetpack Joyride, Free
Wow, that was quick. I guess we’ve already got another update for Jetpack Joyride, this time celebrating the game’s anniversary. That means it’s party time, so make sure to grab the cakes as you fly through those lasers and missiles. I’d imagine there are some nice goodies to earn if you pick up enough of those, but I’m no doctor of Jetpack Joyridology.
Royal Match, Free
I guess this is as good a time as any to handle our obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle game update for this week. Let’s check in on the incredibly unlucky King Robert to see what’s up in his kingdom. As usual, we’ve got one hundred new levels to play. I’m sure each and every one of them has been carefully tuned for maximum enjoyment. There’s a new Dark Honey puzzle element, and that sounds dreadful. The new area this time around is the Royal Mountain, and I can’t imagine that’s a location that is even remotely safe for an accident-prone monarch like Robby. Oh well.
TMNT Splintered Fate,
Sure, all eyes are on the ball that is the latest DLC for Shredder’s Revenge on consoles, but that isn’t the only TMNT game to get an update last week. Splintered Fate is still trucking, with a new miniboss fight against Attila the Frog and Rasputin the Mad Frog in Alleyway Punks. There are two new Turtle Powers in the form of Trail Blazer and Revved Up, two new Dragon Upgrades giving you Confidence (NO CONFIDENCE) and Reliable Allies, and a couple of new Achievements to try to knock out. It’s no Usagi Yojimbo but it beats chopped liver, right?
Temple Run: Puzzle Adventure,
Bonus matching puzzle game check-in, this time an Apple Arcade one. It’s time for another Mirror Story, and that means you get fifty new puzzles to play, plus some new tournaments to challenge. Scarlett, Barry, and Guy have encountered yet another mystery. Can they actually manage to work together to figure this one out? I feel like the odds are good, but you never quite know when it comes to this crew.
Summon Quest,
I feel like I’ve looked at an update for this one before, but I can’t quite remember. The ol’ brain gets to be a bit Swiss cheese-like at my age, I suppose. Well, that doesn’t really matter. The important thing for our purposes today is this latest update, which adds the Warlock’s Shadowrealm to the game. If you’re going to tackle it, you might want to beef up your own powers using the newly-introduced Talent System. Those two things are the major parts of this latest version, but there have also been a ton of balance updates as well. I’ll let you check those on your own as they are too granular and lengthy to fit here.
Honkai: Star Rail, Free
Let’s see what’s up in Honkai: Star Rail this week. Version 1.3 has arrived, bringing Celestial Eyes Above Mortal Ruins to the game. That’s… quite a title. There are new characters in the form of Dan Heng: Imbibitor Lunae, Fu Xuan, and Lynx. You also get a couple of new Light Cones, a new area called Aurum Alley, some new stories to play, a few new events, and some new enemies to battle. Are you ready to take on The Swarm? That sounds ominous. Spidey has a Swarm, he’s made of bees. Fiction rules.
LEGO® Brawls,
Sometimes, old grudges need to be settled. Decades-old battles. The kinds of things that could tear friends apart. LEGO Brawls is going to put one of these to the test with this latest update, pitting two classic LEGO sets against each other to the… well, not to the death, but someone is going to get a real pinch! It’s Western vs. Castle, and only one can declare victory in the end. This update brings in some new mash-up levels feeding into these rivalries, and throws in a new Trophy Rush game mode to play. Add some bug fixes and performance improvements to the mix, and you’ve got a pretty solid update all around.
Grimvalor, $5.99
A muse named Sebgo whispered in my ear about this update, so big thanks to him. This is a great game that I had a blast playing through back when I reviewed it. I’m not checking how long ago that was. Anyway, this update adds the option to configure your controls if you’re using a controller, allowing you to bind actions as you see fit. It also optimizes the game for modern devices and iOS versions, which means if you’re rocking some new hardware you can push the game up to 120 frames per second. Holy smokes!
Teeny Tiny Town, Free
Yes, I’ve been holding on to that lovely coveted UMMSotW award until this very last entry. I’m a crafty fellow that way sometimes. This is a great update, though. It adds a new Sandbox Mode to the game, allowing you to have fun without worrying about any limits or restrictions. There are four new maps to play on, a couple of new modes to try, and a couple of spiffy paid themes to try. The Autumn Theme gives you that nice colorful leaves vibe, and the Fantasy Theme lets you live that isekai life. Also in this update: bug fixes!
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
