The Red Witch’, ‘Desktop Basketball 2’, Plus Today’s Other Releases, News, and Sales – TouchArcade

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 25th, 2023. Following yesterday’s quiet Thursday, we’ve got a quiet Friday. There’s a tiny slice of news to look at, a handful of new releases to summarize, and some new and outgoing sales to go over. Take a nice breather. Enjoy some of the games in your backlog. Play some Vampire Survivors. Oh, but please read the article anyway. Ol’ Shaun needs some clicks now and then. Let’s get to business!

News

‘Excitebike 64’ Revs on to Nintendo Switch Online Next Week

Gosh, Nintendo of America is having fun with these YouTube videos lately. Anyway, the next addition to the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack selection of retro games is coming next week, and it’s Excitebike 64. That’s a pretty good game! It will be fun to enjoy the multiplayer online as well. It will be coming to the Nintendo 64 app (obviously) on August 30th, so do look forward to that.

New Releases

Little Devil: Foster Mayhem ($14.99)

The Red Witch’, ‘Desktop Basketball 2’, Plus Today’s Other Releases, News, and Sales – TouchArcade

Play as a kid named Little Devil and wreak havoc in your foster home any way you can in this one. Perhaps if you destroy enough and cause a lot of trouble, your foster parents will give up on you and pass you to a home more to your preference. I’m not sure about the topic matter, but it certainly looks like a game that has put a lot of thought into allowing you create mischief.

Ashina: The Red Witch ($9.99)

This is apparently related to the game My Big Sister, so if you liked that one then you’ll want to sign up here. Ash is exploring the spirit world to find a way back home and save her sister. Basically, it’s an adventure game built in an RPG-style engine. Explore, meet weird characters, and enjoy the vibes of the afterlife. The reviews over on Steam for this one are very good, so if you’re interested in the premise the game will likely deliver.

Giant Wishes ($4.99)

Tonight’s Episode: The Developer’s Barely-Disguised Fetish.

Puzzle by Nikoli S Kakuro ($4.99)

In case you need something similar to Sudoku but a bit spicier, here’s Kakuro. You have to fill in the cells and as in Sudoku you can only use each number once in each column and row of the section. The extra twist here is that some cells are split diagonally with numbers written in, and for those the numbers to the right have to add up to the number in the top half and the numbers below have to add up to the number on the bottom half. As always, it’s more complicated to explain in words than it is to learn by playing. It’s pretty fun, though.

Desktop Basketball 2 ($8.00)

I think this is the first sequel SAT-BOX has made to one of its Desktop Sports games. I wouldn’t have guessed basketball would be the one, but here we are. Up to four players can join in via local multiplayer, and by the looks of it you get more or less the same modes and features that the first one offered. Like, if you A-B the two eShop descriptions they essentially paraphrase each other. So… I don’t really know who this is for, but if it’s you, I apologize if I made light of your specific tastes.

The Bin Bunch

Wildagotchi: Virtual Pet ($12.99)

Chat Simulator: Blind Dates ($3.99)

Rocket Car: Ultimate Ball League Madness ($11.99)

Forklift Simulator 2023 ($9.99)

Sales

(North American eShop, US Prices)

A few things to call out today. PowerWash Simulator is always a good thing to buy. Life is Strange 2 has never been cheaper. Dawn of the Monsters just got some cool new DLC and is having a sale to celebrate. Neither list is overly large today, so I recommend scanning through them and seeing if anything grabs you.

You know, I can look at the calendar and see the summer is technically on its way out, but it sure doesn’t feel like it lately. I’m sure I’ll be complaining about the cold soon enough. I hope you all have a great weekend, and as always, thanks for reading!
