‘June’s Journey’, ‘Honkai Impact 3rd’, ‘Castle Crumble’, ‘Toon Blast’, and More – TouchArcade
Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. Seems like a relatively normal bunch of updates to me this week, and that’s often the case when there isn’t some kind of fun holiday to spur things on. I’ve done my best to find some interesting updates and write them up in an entertaining manner for you to start your week with. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!
MARVEL SNAP, Free
We’ll start off with the latest update to Marvel Snap, which I went into in some detail in a separate story last week. It adds some deck customization features, and it also makes some balance changes that have already seriously altered the meta for some players. The developers have certainly been doing their best to try to keep the game balanced, fun, and varied and this update was another effort towards that end.
Disney Heroes: Battle Mode, Free
Apparently this game is celebrating its fifth anniversary. Nifty. Good work, team. That’s not easy in this day and age. Anyway, as you might guess there is a new character in the playable roster as of this new version of the game. It’s Tiana from The Princess and the Frog! Neat. That was a pretty good movie, but it felt like it slipped right under the ol’ radar. This update also includes some bug fixes and improvements, as most of these things do.
Honkai Impact 3rd, Free
The older Honkai had an update this week, so let’s drag it back into the spotlight for a second or two. This update features a new S-rank battlesuit called Dreamweaver, and an SP battlesuit known as Terminal Aide 0017. There’s also a new event, TeRiRi’s Magical Quest, where you can get Herrscher of Thunder’s new outfit and more as a reward. There’s also a new weapon type, the javelin. Toss it and see what you can do with it. There are a few other things in here, but I’ll let you log in and find out on your own if you’re curious.
Subway Surfers, Free
It’s a bit hard to remember, but way back eleven years ago when this game first started, the location it kicked off with was Copenhagen. And now the kids return there for a bit of revenge. I’m lying, no revenge. Only surfing. WITH A VENGEANCE. Nah, I got you again. Anyway, The Rivals are here and you can add their leader Catrine to your roster. There’s a bunch of other stuff here including some gifts to celebrate the eleventh anniversary, so head on in and see what’s what.
Jetpack Joyride 2,
It gets tough finding new things to write about the same old updates in Jetpack Joyride, so I decided to pass on its TMNT update and take a look at this one for its sequel instead. It adds a Prestige system to the game so you can reset to gain exclusive rewards and benefits, some new story levels to fly through, and a new avatar to sport. And I will again roll out the tiny red carpet for the bug fixes and performance improvements, the silent champions of these articles.
Taiko no Tatsujin Pop Tap Beat,
New Taiko no Tatsujin update means new songs, without fail. Now that I have said that the next update will just add a cool mustache for Don-chan or something. But I suppose the important thing is that this update has new songs. Five of them, to be exact. Probably nothing most of you would know, but here are the names anyway: JoJo Sono Chi no Sadame, Stone Ocean, Nainainai, Mayonakano DOA-Stay With Me, and Rare Hero. They’re good tunes, even if you don’t know them, Give them a shot and I think you’ll have fun.
Castle Crumble,
I was going to make some kind of joke that riffed off the old expression about cookies crumbling but I am 95% sure I have made that joke before. My memory is no help here but I know myself and I know I wouldn’t have been able to resist it. So instead I will proceed with no stupid joke and simply inform you that this game has sixty new levels to play in a brand new kingdom, plus a new explosive weapon to help your castle crumbling along. Also, don’t tell Dad but there are some bug fixes and performance improvements here, too. I’m trusting you with that secret.
Temple Run 2, Free
A curious update, to be sure. Lots of stuff in here and I’m not sure how it all fits together, so let’s call it a potpourri and just move along. First up, a new runner in the form of Tamatoa the Samoan warrior. Next, a pet Mama Bear to celebrate Mother’s Day. Actually, that rules. A new Scrub Hat in honor of Nurses’ Day. Didn’t know about Nurses’ Day but if anyone deserves a day it’s them. A Memorial Hat for Memorial Day, too. And finally, Barry Bones Outrider and Karma Lee Shadow Walker make their stunning returns! This feels random enough to give the coveted UMMSotW award to, so I think I will. Don’t spend it all in one place, y’all.
June’s Journey: Hidden Objects, Free
Let’s see where June is journeying to this time. Nowhere, by the looks of it. But at least there’s some business involving botanicals, so that’s lovely. There’s a new story called Secrets where you’ll tackle Hidden Object Scenes with some new gameplay mechanics in play such as Silhouette Mode and Mastery Challenge. Well, that should be adequate for now. New story scenes and all that. Can’t imagine what else players would want from an update for this one.
Toon Blast, Free
We’ll end things out with our Obligatory Free-to-Play Matching Puzzle Update for this week. It’s Toon Blast, and it’s about the usual business for that game. That means you get fifty new levels to play, plus a little story to frame it all. It’s called Shark Detected, so the toons are either hunting down a billiards hustler or things are about to get very grotesque indeed. Either way, we’re going to need a bigger boat.
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
