Grave Seasons kills off its 2026 release date, but digs one up for the near future

As Perfect Garbage, aka ‘the Garbagemen,’ announced in a recent devlog, Grave Seasons’ release date is unfortunately being pushed back. While this stings, we’re taking it in stride, as we eager players want the game to be as good as possible when it debuts.

In a – surprisingly – long post on Steam, the team confirms the new date is now March next year. Along with this, they state that “porting a game to consoles is tough”, which we can fully appreciate. The release date is therefore further off so that the studio can launch the game in a good state on all involved platforms, specifically optimizing it to “run well on the Switch (yay!)”.

While it’s content-complete, this means there are still background bug fixes to see to, and polishing to perform. The post gives us a look at a lot of aspects of the game, and some of the funnier fixes that the team has had to overcome. You can see how far the setting of Ashenridge has come, how much the main character’s appearance has transformed, and see some NPC portraits.

When is the Grave Seasons release date?

Grave Seasons will release on March 9, 2027, on Nintendo Switch, along with Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S. We’re not sure whether it will be Steam Deck verified at release.

What kind of game is Grave Seasons?

In case the name didn’t give enough of a hint, Grave Seasons is a farming sim with a very dark twist. While you’re planting crops, someone in town is committing serial killings. So, on top of your regular agricultural duties and ability to romance NPCs, you also have to find out what on Earth is going on in Ashenridge. Or maybe it isn’t Earth at all, as there’s a supernatural tinge here, too.

It’s one of the upcoming Switch games we’re most excited for, as a lot of our team not only loves indie games but also true crime.
