Total War: Warhammer 40,000, Alien: Isolation 2, Modern Warfare 4, and more will be playable ahead of release at PAX Australia next month
PAX Australia returns to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in October, and this year’s Expo Floor promises to be packed with playable games.
For starters Sega will have four games to try including Total War: Warhammer 40,000 with three playable scenarios, as well as Alien: Isolation 2, Persona 4 Revival, and Yakuza’s noir prequel Stranger Than Heaven. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s multiplayer will also be playable ahead of its October 23 launch.
Square Enix’s booth will have a hands-on opportunity for players to try Final Fantasy 14 on Switch 2, then create a bracelet and take a themed photo. FF14’s localization director Michael-Christopher Koji Fox and global community producer Toshio ‘Foxclon’ Murouchi will be taking part in a behind-the-scenes panel where they endure a hot sauce challenge while sharing war stories. Attendees will get an early peak at Final Fantasy 7 Revelation at a special showcase too.

The Ubisoft Community Esports stages will host Rainbow Six Siege competitions, an Assassin’s Creed sea shanty singalong, the Ubisoft Cosplay Runway, and a Just Dance-Along, among other events.
PAX Australia runs from October 9–11, and badges are on sale at the official website. I’ll be spending most of the weekend at the PAX Rising indie showcase trying to play as many of the more than 90 indie games on show as I can. There’s plenty more worth checking out on the full schedule.
