Top Star Suspended & Women’s Title Gauntlet Set

Several developments coming out of the August 22 episode of Lucha Libre AAA on FOX have set the stage for the promotion’s upcoming events.

The show opened with Omos taking on Galeno in singles action. While the match did not produce a decisive winner, the situation quickly escalated afterward.

Omos continued his attack on Galeno, putting him through the commentary desk before preparing to launch the ring steps onto him. AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio came out to intervene, but Omos turned his attention to Mysterio.

After initially lifting Rey up for a chokeslam, Omos received conflicting advice from ringside. Dorian Roldán tried to talk him out of attacking Mysterio, while AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio encouraged Omos to follow through.

Omos ultimately planted Rey with the chokeslam, prompting Mysterio to announce that Omos had been suspended from AAA indefinitely. Omos responded by striking Mysterio and sending him out of the ring. Rey then declared that he never wanted to see Omos in AAA again.

Elsewhere on the show, a new match was set for AAA Ola de Calor on August 30 at Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, Texas.

AAA Reina de Reinas Champion Flammer and La Hiedra met with Mysterio backstage, with Flammer pointing out that she has held the championship for more than 1,000 days and claiming she had already defeated everyone available to challenge her.

Flammer said she therefore did not expect to compete at Triplemanía 34 in September. Mysterio responded by announcing a Gauntlet match for Ola de Calor, with the winner earning a shot at Flammer’s championship at Triplemanía. Flammer agreed to the match.

The challengers for the AAA World Tag Team Championship at Ola de Calor were also determined.

Money Machine (Colmillo de Plata & Garra de Oro), L.W.O. (Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde), Psycho Circus (Murder Clown & Dave the Clown) and Los Americanos (Rayo Americano & Bravo Americano) competed in a four-way number-one contender’s match.

Los Americanos picked up the victory after defeating Wilde, earning themselves a shot against the War Raiders for the AAA World Tag Team Championship on August 30.
