Backstage News On Sheamus & Ilja Dragunov To AEW
More potential names have surfaced for the Casino Gauntlet Match at AEW All In: London.
AEW returns to Wembley Stadium in London, England, for All In on Sunday, August 30. The show will feature a Casino Gauntlet Match, with the winner earning a future opportunity at the AEW World Championship.
Andrade El Idolo and MJF have been announced as the first two entrants in the match, while Tommaso Ciampa has also declared that he will be taking part.
According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter at F4WOnline.com, the match is expected to further the ongoing rivalry between MJF and Andrade.
Several other names have been discussed as potential participants, including Zack Sabre Jr., Místico, Chris Jericho, Mark Davis, Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, Jack Perry, Mike Bailey and RUSH.
There is also reportedly a possibility that the match could include “a surprise debut or two.”
Two notable names who could potentially fit that description are Ilja Dragunov and Sheamus, both of whom recently became free agents following the expiration of their respective WWE contracts.
Dragunov’s WWE deal recently expired after he opted not to sign a new contract with the company. Sheamus, meanwhile, departed WWE in July after the two sides were unable to come to terms on restructuring his deal.
Because both wrestlers’ contracts expired rather than being terminated, Dragunov and Sheamus are free to appear elsewhere without being subject to a post-release non-compete period.
AEW has not announced either Dragunov or Sheamus for All In as of this writing.
