These 10 Games Are Putting Disney In The Spotlight For Xbox Backwards Compatibility Requests

We’ve talked in recent months about the Xbox Game Preservation website and how it does a fantastic job at tracking the most-requested Xbox backwards compatibility titles, and it’s now made a point of highlighting Disney in particular.
A new report on the website says that, according to the votes it’s received, Disney is the most popular brand when it comes to Xbox backwards compatibility requests. 117,206 votes have been submitted on the website for Disney-owned IP, which represents more than one in three voters for absolutely every game that’s available to vote for.
Here’s a bit more of what they say about this:
There’s a lot more detail on the website itself if you’re interested, including the top 10 most-voted Disney IP when it comes to Xbox backwards compatibility. The Simpsons: Hit & Run tops the list which is no surprise, and it’s followed by a lot of Spider-Man and other Marvel games in particular.
Here’s that top 10:
- The Simpsons: Hit & Run (12,488 votes)
- Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions (9,582 votes)
- Deadpool (8,852 votes)
- Spider-Man: Web of Shadows (8,436 votes)
- The Simpsons Game (5,091 votes)
- Spider-Man 2 (4,523)
- Ultimate Spider-Man (4,237)
- Spider-Man: Edge of Time (3,936)
- Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (3,618)
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine (3,399)
Of course, this is just a requests list, and there’s no guarantee any of these titles will receive Xbox backwards compatibility support in the future. In fact, we’d predict that none of them will join the program due to licensing issues, but you never know what might happen – anything’s possible (even if it seems unlikely!).
The other thing to mention here is that while Disney might be the most popular brand for backwards compatibility requests, loads of Skylanders games are topping the leaderboard for individual games right now. In fact, the top six most-voted titles on the Xbox Game Preservation website are all Xbox 360 versions of different Skylanders releases, but another analysis on the website points out that these votes come from a “largely separate audience” that tends to only vote for that series and nothing else. Still, it’s certainly another very popular IP that’s in demand.
Anyway, we just thought this was an interesting snapshot of the votes that have been received over there so far, the number of which is approaching one million now! Let’s hope we might see more Xbox backwards compatibility additions in the future, especially now that the initiative has begun rolling out on PC as well.
