Becky Lynch Reveals WWE Moment That Was ‘Too Overwhelming’

Becky Lynch admits the size of the crowd at her first WrestleMania was almost too much to take in.

Lynch made her WrestleMania debut at WrestleMania 32 in 2016, challenging Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks in a Triple Threat Match to crown the new WWE Women’s Champion. The event took place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, in front of an announced crowd of more than 100,000 fans.

Speaking with Nina Drama in a new interview, Lynch reflected on walking into a packed stadium for the first time and admitted she was overwhelmed by the experience.

“The most I’ve wrestled in front of was in Texas. But it was over 100,000. That was my first WrestleMania. 100,000. Which was 10 years ago,” Lynch said. “WrestleMania 32, and I walked out there and I’d never been in front of… I’d never been… I don’t think I’ve ever been in a stadium before filled with people. It was too overwhelming for me the first time.”

Lynch noted that performing in stadiums has since become far more familiar, while putting the size of that WrestleMania crowd into perspective by comparing it to Cork, Ireland.

“Now we do it like several times a year and it’s like nothing. The second biggest city in Ireland. Now you’re not gonna believe me, but it’s Cork. So the population, well, when I was growing up, was 100,000, you know, of the second biggest city in Ireland. So when I went down in front of 100,000 people, I was like, ‘oh, yeah.’”

Elsewhere in the interview, Lynch was asked to name her favorite opponents from throughout her career. She singled out two of her biggest rivals, Bianca Belair and Asuka.

“Ooh, Bianca Belair. Ooh, and Asuka,” Lynch said. “And Asuka, I love both of them. I love both of them.”
