MVP Expects Final Wrestling Match In 2027

MVP expects to wrestle his final match sometime in 2027 and intends to remain retired afterward, according to The Takedown on Sports Illustrated.

The comments came during MVP’s latest appearance on Marking Out. The episode is currently available through BZZR and is scheduled to be released on YouTube on Monday, August 10.

MVP explained that time has affected both his physical capabilities and his interest in continuing to wrestle.

“My ability to wrestle at a high level is deteriorating because of time,” MVP said. “I don’t have the explosiveness that I used to. And let me be real with you. I don’t have the desire. My passion for actually getting in the ring and having that match isn’t what it used to be.”

WrestlingHeadlines previously reported in September 2025 that MVP insisted he had not retired. The new 2027 timetable provides a more specific endpoint for his in-ring career.

MVP’s most recent match took place on the October 22, 2025 episode of AEW Dynamite, when The Hurt Syndicate challenged The Opps for the AEW World Trios Championship.

Although his interest in pursuing singles championships has faded, MVP said he would still accept an appropriate tag team or trios match alongside Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin.

“If Tony (Khan) says, ‘Hey, I want you, Bobby and Shelton to do a trios match,’ I’m ready,” MVP said. “I can give you a tag. But if Tony said, ‘Hey, as a gift to you, for your career on the way out the door, I’d like to give you an AEW Championship title run.’ I would say no.”
