One Year Later, What Do You Think Of Xbox’s Most Recent Gears Of War Release?

We’re obviously all eagerly awaiting the release of Gears of War: E-Day later in 2026, but before we get there, we thought we’d take a quick look back at the most recent entry in the series – August 2025’s Gears of War: Reloaded.

In all honesty, we were a little underwhelmed by the idea of revisiting Gears of War 1 all over again with Reloaded last year, as it seemed like there hadn’t been many changes compared to the Ultimate Edition and it was essentially being made to give PlayStation owners a special debut for Gears on the PS5.

However, when it released, we still went as far as giving it an “Excellent” 9/10 in our review:

“Gears of War: Reloaded is an excellent game. Sure, it’s quite basic compared to modern Gears games and sure, the core of the experience is very similar to Gears of War: Ultimate Edition – but I still think this release was a worthwhile endeavour, and then some. PS5 players joining the party means that Gears 1 multiplayer will remain alive and thriving, and those quality-of-life improvements to online play are also a massive win in my eyes.”
