Cyberpunk 2077 Sales Have Reached 40 Million Units Worldwide

CD Projekt RED has confirmed on the official Cyberpunk 2077 X account that the sci-fi epic has now sold 40 million copies worldwide since its launch in December 2020.
“Night City population: 40 million dreamers. Thank you al for helping us reach this amazing milestone,” said the company. Previously, the developer had confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 had sold 35 million copies globally back in November last year, so the game is obviously still performing extremely well despite how long it’s been on the market.
Cyberpunk 2077 was released for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on December 10, 2020 but the console versions were plagued by numerous performance issues and bugs, which took months to fix with various post-launch updates. In total, CDPR spent around $125 million fixing the game alongside developing the game’s expansion, Phantom Liberty.
The native PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Cyberpunk 2077 were released in 2022, and at this point the game was finally up and running in much better shape for home consoles, having benefited from numerous patches and performance improvements. Cyberpunk 2077 also graced Nintendo Switch 2 as a launch title in June 2025.
