Four New Console Features Begin Rolling Out Today For Xbox Insiders (June 24)

It’s time for another four new Xbox console features!

All of these are rolling out to select members of the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring in the Xbox Insider program today (June 24th), and they’ll continue rolling out to more members over time before an eventual public release – most likely in July.

There are a couple of particularly notable ones here in our opinion, and the others are nice quality-of-life tweaks. The ability to choose longer gamertags is certainly a great change, and we can envision ourselves semi-regularly using the new prompt to play games via the cloud when they need an update.

Here’s a look at all four features, and you can let us know what you think of them in the comments.

“We’ve heard from players who wanted a little more flexibility when choosing a gamertag, and we’re bringing back support for unique gamertags up to 15 characters long, expanded from the previous 12-character limit.”

2. Xbox 360 Games Now Have Dedicated Game Hubs

“We’ve added game hubs in game cards for XBOX 360 games. Now, when you open the game card for any installed XBOX 360 game, you’ll be able to quickly view achievement progress, captures, and other useful information.”

3. Prompt To Play Via The Cloud When Games Need Updates

“If a game requires an update and is available to stream through your Game Pass membership, you can start playing immediately with cloud gaming while the update downloads in the background. You’ll also see the option to launch with cloud gaming directly from the game card when a game is installing or updating.”

4. New Way To Add A Game To Your Wishlist

“You can now add both released and upcoming games to your wishlist directly from game cards, giving you an easy way to keep track of the titles you want to play.”
