Grand Theft Auto V Sales Top 230 Million Copies, Red Dead Redemption 2 Passes 85 Million

Take-Two has revealed during its latest financial results overnight that Grand Theft Auto V has sold massive 230 million copies worldwide sincei ts launch in September 2013.

Grand Theft Auto V originally arrived for the PS3 and Xbox 360, and arrived on the PS4 and Xbox One in November the following year. A PC version launched in 2015, and the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S editions arrived in March 2022. Meanwhile, the publisher also announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 has now passed 85 million copies globally.

Rockstar’s approach to GTA V was quite a major departure for the series up to that point, as it introduced three playable characters – Michael, Trevor, and Franklin – as they plan a series of heists and dabble in various other criminal activities throughout a sprawling open world setting. Players are able to switch between any of the three characters at any point during free roam, taking on side quests and dabbling in a near-endless number of side activities.

Take Two recently reconfirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch on November 19, and stated that marketing for the highly anticipated sequel will kick off this summer.
