Xbox To Share More Info On Project Helix In ‘Game Dev Update’ Show Next Week

We’re very eager to hear more about Xbox’s next-gen Project Helix console, and the good news is that a special “Game Dev Update” show will be providing more details next week, although we’d also urge you to keep expectations in check.

This is a new YouTube show that’s aimed at game developers, and the first episode will dive into the “introduction of Project Helix”, recapping what was shown off at GDC 2026 earlier this year.

Here’s how this segment of the show is described:

Introduction of Project Helix – Presented by: Chris Charla (GM, Portfolio & Programs) & Jason Ronald (VP, Next Generation)

“Chris and Jason will walk through the details shared at GDC, offering a closer look at Project Helix and what it represents for the future of Xbox. What does Project Helix mean for developers? It’s powered by a custom AMD-based SoC and co-designed for the next-generation of DirectX, as part of our ongoing partnership to shape the future of rendering and simulation. Project Helix will create new opportunities for you to optimize build workflows, improve performance, and iterate more efficiently. Xbox is building for what’s next and we’re inviting you to join us on that journey.”

Although we did hear about the Project Helix presentation at GDC 2026, and some non-professional recordings have surfaced online from it, this will be the first opportunity to get all that information in an official broadcast.

It should be a fascinating watch, but we’re definitely not expecting any major revelations or a glimpse at what the console (or its development kit) looks like here. Still, if you want to tune in, you’ll find this Game Dev Update episode on the Microsoft Game Dev YouTube channel at 9AM PDT / 12PM EDT / 5PM BST on May 7th, 2026.
