Prince Of Persia Remake Team Shares Final Message Following Game’s Cancellation

Following that announcement, the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake team shared a final message on social media, admitting that it hadn’t reached the right level of quality, and it needed too much more time and commitment.

“We’ve made the difficult decision to stop development on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. We know this is deeply disappointing. The game carries enormous meaning for fans and for the teams who worked on it.”

“While the project had real potential, we weren’t able to reach the level of quality you deserve, and continuing would have required more time and investment than we could responsibly commit. And, we didn’t want to release something that fell short of what The Sands of Time represents.”

Despite the cancellation, Ubisoft did mention the Prince of Persia franchise when talking about its new “Creative Houses” for the future — the fourth Creative House is “dedicated to immersive fantasy worlds and narrative-driven universes”, with examples listed as Prince of Persia, Anno, Might & Magic, Rayman, and Beyond Good & Evil.

With the company having spent multiple years and goodness knows how much money on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, it sounds like it just hasn’t lived up to their own internal expectations during that time.

The result is a game we’ll never get to play — The Sands of Time have officially run out on this one.
