Xbox Series X|S Owners, How’s Your Storage Looking In 2026?
It’s also interesting to go back and compare with 2023 when it comes to external storage. In 2023 and 2024, external hard drives were more popular than Expansion Cards for the Series X and Series S, but 2025’s results revealed that the 1TB Expansion Card had received the most votes instead of external hard drives for both consoles.
Again though, it’s not that surprising — external hard drives can’t run native Series X and S games, and considering the generation is five years old at this point, Expansion Cards have started to feel like more and more of a necessity.
So, let’s see what the 2026 results bring us! We’re fascinated to find out just how full your internal storage is on your Xbox Series X and/or Xbox Series S, as well as whether you’re using external storage to help top it up.
