Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Studio Says It Has ‘Some Great Ideas’ To Explore For Its New Project

François Meurisse, Chief Operating Officer and Production Director at Sandfall Interactive, has revealed that the studio has “some great ideas” for its next project, but noted that it isn’t going to be swayed by the new-found pressure it it has attracted following the huge success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

Speaking with EDGE magazine, Meurisse noted that Sandfall Interactive is “excited to explore” these aforementioned ideas, and that it isn’t starting “from the same point” that it was when crafting Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. “The team already has five more years of experience. So maybe we can do some great stuff,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Svedberg-Yen, the lead writer on Clair Obscur, said that she is “bit of a people pleaser,” and as such it is “always in the back of [her] mind that we have a lot of fans now, and they have certain expectations and certain feelings towards the game.”

I’ve seen too many TV shows and books be swayed trying to please a lot of people, and in the process you end up losing the heart of what’s there. So [we] feel like we need to trust our instincts and continue to trust the vision behind the studio.

Back in October, Sandfall Interactive Creative Director, Guillaume Broche, said that the team won’t be constrained by various factors such as story, gameplay and art style in regards to its next project. “We just want it to feel authentic, and made with love,” he said.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was released for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in April 2025, and you can read our full review here.
