Arrowhead Games CEO On Helldivers 2 Performance Patches: ‘Things Have Improved, But There’s More Work To Be Done’
Shams Jorjani, CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios, has revealed during a post on the Helldivers 2 Discord that there’s still “more work to be done” in regards to getting the shooter’s performance to a solid level, following the announcement of the latest Warbond for the game — the Python Commandos.
When asked by a fan on Discord in regards to how Arrowhead feels about its progress on the patch front, Jorjani responded: “Things have improved, but there’s more work to be done. The intent is that new releases don’t bork quality but build on it.” Meanwhile, Mitchell ‘Mijtchimus’ Ayre, who serves as community manager, added:
I don’t know how much I can go into it (it’s above my paygrade) but we slowed down our cadence as you may have noticed and worked harder to make sure our launches will have more time for testing.
This follows on the back of comments from Helldivers 2 Game Director, Mikael Eriksson, who back in October that the team at Arrowhead were scaling back on content updates in order for them to focus more on getting the game’s performance up to scratch.

Helldivers 2 was released for PS5 and PC in February 2024 to huge success, becoming one of the best-selling video games of that year and remains a perennially popular multilayer attraction. Arrowhead’s post-launch support for Helldivers 2 has been fairly robust, with new Warbonds and other content updates keeping things ticking over, not to mention numerous performance and balance updates that have kept the game in solid shape.
In related news, Jorjani comments in September this year that Helldivers 3 is not something the studio has in the pipeline, instead choosing to focus on Helldivers 2, which he said the team prefers to think of as ‘a forever game.’ Part of this ongoing support has seen Helldivers 2 arrive for Xbox Series X/S, where it ranked as the top-paid game on the Xbox Store.
