Dragon Quest VII Reimagined To Feature A Brand New Ending

Square Enix’s upcoming Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is set to feature a brand new ending, the game’s producer has revealed during a chat with Game Informer.

Takeshi Ichikawa confirmed that players will be able to unlock a new conclusion based on some of the choices they make in the game, although didn’t elaborate any further at this point.

[Reimagined] follows the narrative of the original story, but depending on some of the […] player choices, players will get to see a new conclusion that’s never been seen before in previous iterations. So, even players who have played previous versions of Dragon Quest VII, they’ll still get to have this fresh narrative experience with Reimagined.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is slated for release on February 5, 2026 for PS5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. The original version of the game, known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Pats (Dragon Warrior VII in the US), was released for the PlayStation in 2000, and the RPG was later remade for the Nintendo 3DS in 2013.

According to Ichikawa-san, the upcoming Dragon Quest VII Reimagined has been “re-built from the ground up” and visually introduces a “new challenge” for the team as the environments are build to resemble dioramas.
