Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined Announced By Square Enix, Releasing February 2026
During today’s Nintendo Direct, Square Enix announced Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined. Unlike their HD-2D Remakes of Dragon Quest 1 & 2 and Dragon Quest 3. Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined appears to be a significantly more substantial enhancement than Square has implemented in the HD-2D space. Square Enix PR Chad Concelmo confirmed on his X account that the developers scanned dolls that they created based on Akira Toriyama’s art to use as character models.
I can’t even tell you how excited & proud I am to work on DQVII Reimagined. The game is amazing and so, so pretty. The developers actually created real-life dolls based on Toriyama’s art and scanned them into the game to create the models. It’s so good. And out in February!
