Footage of the Human Head Studios-developed Prey 2, which was cancelled by Bethesda in 2014, has surfaced in a series of videos posted online, offering a more detailed look at the shelved sequel.

Prey 2 was in development as the follow-up to 2006’s Prey, and Human Head Studios initially started development in 2009 after the rights to the franchise were transferred from 3D Realms over to ZeniMax Media. Prey 2 was going to feature an open world setting and a different protagonist, although development on the title quietly ended in late 2011 before the game’s cancellation was announced three years later.
Chris Rhinehart, the project lead, had the following to say on Prey 2 during its production: “Prey 2 will provide gamers the opportunity to explore a new facet of the Prey universe, one that offers fast-paced action in an open, alien world.” Jason Blair, who worked on the game’s narrative elements while at Human Head, stating following Prey 2’s cancellation that the reasons for it being scrapped were “political” and “petty.”
In the end, the series was rebooted in 2017 with Arkane Studios’ Prey for PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
