Capcom Confirms Pragmata Is Not A Secret Mega Man Revival: ‘It’s A Completely New Game’
Naoto Oyama, the producer on Capcom’s upcoming Pragmata, has addressed the popular online theory that the upcoming sci-fi title is actually a revival of the Mega Man franchise. In short? It’s not.
Speaking with VGC, Oyama-san chuckled at the idea of Pragmatic secretly being a Mega Man game, but confirmed this is simply not the case.
Pragmata is not a Mega Man game.It is a completely new game from Capcom. I was actually one of the producers on the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection as well, so I’m happy to see that people who love Mega Man are passionate about Pragmata too. From my standpoint, it’s nice to see people are being so positive about it.

Fans speculated that Pragmatic was in fact a Mega Man game originated from the design of Diana, the robotic sidekick who sits on the back of the player character, and its similarities to Mega Man, as well as the fact the game sees virus-infected machines taking over a base on the moon.
PSU recently hand the chance to go hands-on with Pragmata, where we sampled the game’s opening moments that offered us a nice look at the game’s intriguing combat loop. Read our thoughts here.
Powered by the RE Engine, which has been used for numerous major Capcom titles since 2017’s Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Pragmata follows spacefarer Hugh and his android companion, Diana, as they battle against hostile AI on a moonbase. Diana is poisoned on the back of Huge’s mech-like suite, and forms the basis of combat by scanning enemies and having Hugh navigate a grid system to unlock his adversary’s weakness, leaving them susceptible to damage.
