Delta Force Arrives Tomorrow: How to Survive and Thrive in Its Huge Multiplayer Modes
Delta Force has seen huge numbers of players on PC and mobile engaging with its large-scale battles, and now you can join the party – this first-person, team-based, free-to-play shooter arrives on Xbox tomorrow, August 19.
Delta Force includes two main multiplayer modes to jump into right off the bat, both of which could function as a whole game in themselves – which means there’s a lot to learn. To make sure you get your boots on the ground and start winning matches right away, we’ve put together some tips to help you survive and thrive in both Operations and Warfare mode:
Delta Force: Operations Mode Tips
The Basics
Operations takes the form of an extraction shooter – multiple teams of players enter a sandbox filled with loot and dangerous AI combatants for a PvPvE showdown. The twist is that you’re not competing for points, but the very loot you’re trying to escape with (not to mention the gear you bring along in the first place). Collect what you can and get out in order to deposit what you find into your inventory – but fail to get out alive and you’ll lose everything you worked for. It’s a thrillingly high stakes mode.
Tips
- Learn what you can afford to lose: Just because you enter an Operation with good gear doesn’t mean you’ll get to leave with it. As you’re getting to grips with the game, try a few runs without equipping the best items you have available – because if you’re wiped out, you won’t get to keep them. It’s best to learn how the maps are put together, and what threats you might face, before entering a match with the best possible gear.
- Prioritize your Safe Box: There’s one caveat to the “lose everything” philosophy of Operations – a Safe Box. When earned, this little box will protect whatever you put in it, even if you have a failed run. Once you have one, make sure to stash the best small items you can find as quickly as possible, building up your inventory for future runs. Over time, you’ll be able to earn bigger boxes, holding more and more items, and giving you more freedom to go big and go home.
- Don’t be afraid to bail: As tempting as it might be to wipe out as many teams as possible, the loot really is your reason to be here (at least in the early stages of your time with the game). If you’ve found something you absolutely don’t want to lose, resist the temptation to bring the noise and get out while you can. Your teammates will thank you!
Delta Force: Warfare Mode Tips
The Basics
Warfare is a more familiar large-scale team-based mode. In enormous 32v32 matches, players will be split into two sides for a classic push-pull battle over objectives, using Operators with very distinct sets of skills. You can also utilize vehicles across its wide-open maps.
Tips
- Play the Objective: Not only is this just good sense, Delta Force rewards you most for playing as a good member of your team. By actively engaging with Warfare’s objectives, you’ll level up faster and win more matches, being able to bring more to each subsequent match.
- Learn an Operator: As tempting as it might be to try out everything you have available, you’ll likely stay alive longer by sticking with a single Operator, learning how they work, and specializing for your team. As part of such a huge team, playing your role is more important than ever.
- Stay Low, Stay Safe: Especially important as you learn how the mode and its maps work, make sure to prioritize taking objectives over running and gunning. Time-to-kill in Delta Force is low, meaning that if you’re taken unawares, it can be very hard to turn the tide in your favor. Instead, try approaching from unexpected angles, using cover as much as possible to stay out of the crosshairs of your opponents.
Delta Force arrives tomorrow, August 19 for Xbox Series X|S.
