Hideo Kojima Confirms Physint Is Still In The Pipeline But Is Currently In The ‘Conceptual Stage’

Physint, the PlayStation-exclusive project from Death Stranding 2: On the Beach director Hideo Kojima, is still on the way, but it’ll be a while before we see it as the game is still in the conceptual stage.

Speaking during a chat with Indiewire, Kojima-san was quizzed what he’s currently working on, which includes keeping an eye on how well Death Stranding 2 is doing and fixing any bugs. But Physint is still very much on the cards.

Well, I’m checking the data of the [Death Stranding 2] players all over the world what kind of weapons they’re using, the routes they’re taking, all this data. And I also see these small bugs here and there, so I’m deciding where to fix and what to fix.

I also am starting to work with the team on OD because that’s a new project, and also doing Physint all by myself because that’s at the conceptual stage. So I’m doing that. And also I have all these interviews every day, and also promotional photo-shootings, things like that so I don’t feel like I’ve finished [Death Stranding 2], to be frank.

Kojima touched base on Physint back in May when he commented that the game is expected to take another five or six years, which given he’s just said that it’s in the conceptual stage, sounds about right. Physint was announced during Sony’s January 2024 State of Play broadcast, with Kojima stating that the project will represent phase 2 of Kojima Productions – coming after Death Stranding 2 and Project OD.
