Gaming Copilot (Beta) Begins Rolling Out to Xbox Insiders on Game Bar Today

Gaming Copilot (Beta), the ultimate gaming sidekick, is available on Game Bar for Windows PC for Xbox Insiders enrolled in the PC Gaming Preview beginning today. Gaming is one of the only forms of entertainment where you can get stuck, and Gaming Copilot is designed to help get you past those obstacles so you can spend more time playing the games you love. This companion makes gaming with Xbox more seamless and personalized, helping you get to gameplay faster, sharpening your skills, and being there when you need it and out of the way when you don’t.

While Gaming Copilot (Beta) is also available now for Xbox Insiders to try on Windows handhelds with limited functionality, further optimizations are underway for handhelds as we approach the launch of the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X.

We recently brought an early test of Gaming Copilot to the beta version of the Xbox mobile app, where you can access Copilot on a second screen without distracting you from your core gameplay experience. We’re working hard to enhance our Gaming Copilot’s capabilities and extend its availability to more devices over time, incorporating increased functionality and features. With today’s rollout of Gaming Copilot to Game Bar, players will benefit from an even more integrated experience, with Copilot directly embedded into the PC gaming environment and accompanied by new and exciting features.

Gaming Copilot knows what you’re playing and understands your Xbox activity to provide an experience centered around you. In addition to asking for help related to the game you’re playing while you’re playing it, the games you’re interested in or want to discover, or questions about your account, play history, and achievements, in the latest version of Gaming Copilot on Game Bar we also encourage you to try out the following features:

  • Use Voice Mode while actively playing: Pin the Gaming Copilot widget and use Copilot in Voice Mode while you’re actively playing any game on PC. This lets you talk to Copilot and get help if you’re stuck or need tips, without breaking away from gameplay. To do this, navigate to the Gaming Copilot widget, select the “Microphone” from the left navigation bar, begin a conversation, pin the widget, and continue the conversation seamlessly and at any time while you return to your gameplay.

  • Improved Understanding and Responses from Copilot: When you ask Gaming Copilot in Game Bar a question in Voice Mode, it can now use screenshots of your gameplay to provide you with more helpful responses. Now that Gaming Copilot has a better understanding of what’s happening on your screen during active gameplay and through your screenshots, you can refer to things happening in-game as they occur in Voice Mode, without needing to describe them in detail, and get even more relevant and timely support. You can manage your screenshot settings anytime under “Capture Settings” directly in the Gaming Copilot widget.

The possibilities are almost endless, so ask Copilot anything you like and be sure to experiment across both text and voice! Deeper personalization, richer game assistance such as proactive coaching, and many more features will be coming to Gaming Copilot in the future.

Trying Gaming Copilot on Game Bar

To use Game Bar, make sure you have the Xbox PC app downloaded and installed on your Windows device and press the Windows logo key + G to open Game Bar over your game, app, or desktop. Once you open Game Bar, look for the Gaming Copilot icon in the Home Bar to open the widget and log into your Xbox account and access the full experience.

This early preview of Gaming Copilot on Game Bar is available in English for Xbox Insiders aged 18 and older in the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, and other regions. You can view the full list of regions where early testing on Game Bar is available below.

We will continue to explore new ideas, experiment and bring new features like Gaming Copilot to you early and often. Feedback from Xbox Insiders will be critical in helping us shape and improve the feature as it expands to more Xbox surfaces. You can begin providing feedback on Gaming Copilot (Beta) directly by selecting “Give Feedback” directly in the experience, or by simply marking any incorrect responses from Copilot with a “thumbs up” or “thumbs down”.
