Toca Boca has worked on a number of mobile titles aimed at the kids market, the most successful being Toca Boca World. Launched in 2018, AppMagic estimates the game has generated approximately $795 million from the App Store and Google Play to date.
The company currently has online multiplayer game Toca Boca Days in soft launch, which was first released in April 2024.
Company-wide cuts
Last month Toca Boca parent company Spin Master said in an earnings call that it would be shutting down Swedish studio Nørdlight, which had worked on mobile title Rubik’s Match. The firm cited the hight costs of acquiring new users and the title’s lower than expected returns as reasons for the closure.
Meanwhile, it stated that while there had been improvements in the performance of Toca Boca World in Q4, it wasn’t enough to offset the declines experienced earlier in the year for its digital media division. As a result, it reported a revenue decline of just over $9m for 2024.
June also saw Spin Master appointed long-serving board member Christina Miller as its new CEO effective July 7th, with former incumbent Max Rangel stepping down.
