GTA-Like ‘MindsEye’ Gets Full Overview Ahead Of Xbox Launch Next Month
We’ve been interested in MindsEye for a good while now, especially with its Rockstar Games pedigree behind it in the form of lead dev Leslie Benzies – but to be honest, we’ve struggled to get a real grasp so far of what this game actually is. Well, today, the team at Build a Rocket Boy has attempted to rectify that with its new overview trailer… and we’re a little bit more clued in than we were a few hours ago.
‘Introducing MindsEye’, as it’s labelled above, gives us our best look at the upcoming GTA-like yet. The team says that alongside its main story β which revolves around the dangers of AI in a near-future setting β MindsEye “is the home of infinite entertainment”. The title will contain its own toolset that allows both developers and users to create additional content to keep the game thriving over time.
“Youβll step into the role of Jacob Diaz, whose personal mission escalates into a far-reaching conspiracy involving criminal forces, an unchecked military, and a threat so sinister it endangers humanity. The trailer showcases explosive action, high-stakes storytelling, and next-gen gameplay.
MindsEye also introduces Play.MindsEye, a continuous stream of developer-created content, and Build.MindsEye, a powerful tool that lets you create your own missions and environments with no prior programming experience.”
This community-driven aspect of MindsEye is giving us Fortnite / ROBLOX vibes, with their focus on custom content – but we suppose GTA Online has had a lot of that stuff for a good while too. It’ll be interesting to see if folks take to MindsEye’s community toolset and keep the game going beyond its June 10th launch on Xbox.
As for the main game itself, MindsEye does look a bit been there, done that in terms of its overall vibe, but ultimately, we’ll have to wait and see how it all feels with controller in-hand next month. The good news is that if you’re interested in this GTA-like experience, you’ve only got a couple of weeks to go until launch.
