Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel Will See Players Visiting ‘Another City,’ Reveals Mike Pondsmith
Mike Pondsmith, the writer behind the Cyberpunk tabletop role-playing game, has revealed during the 2025 Digital Dragons conference in Poland that players will be visiting a new city in CD Projekt RED‘s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.
Speaking with Michal Manka, Pondsmith revealed that players will get to explore “another city” in the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, but stopped short of confirming an actual name or revealing any key details on the location. CDPR has been quiet about the new title, known as Project Orion, which is still quite a ways off from release.

Back in November last year, CDPR was hiring for a number of projects for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, including Senior Environment Artist, Lead Environment Artist, Senior Cinematic Designer, and Senior VFX Artist. Development is being headed up by a team in Boston, US. As a result, CDPR’s Dan Hernberg commented lats June that he feels the sequel will be more authentically American.
In February 2025, a new job listing posted by CDPR described how the studio is looking to implement the ‘most realistic crowds ever seen in a video game.’ Project Orion is clearly going to be an ambitious title, and narrative designer Igor Sarzyńsk hinted as much when he described how the original Cyberpunk 2077 was “just a warm-up” in comparison to the sequel.
Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel is currently in development for as-yet undisclosed platforms, with a release date yet to be decided.
