The Last Of Us HBO Season 3 Should Begin Production In 2026, Says Isabela Merced

Actress Isabela Merced, who portrays Dina in HBO’s The Last of Us, has revealed during an interview with Variety that production on the third season should kick off in 2026.

While discussing The Last of Us Season 3, Merced was asked if she knew when production is scheduled to kick off, to which she responded, “No, but I think it should be next year.”

The Last of Us Season 3 was officially given the green light earlier last month, ahead of the premiere of the first episode of Season 2. Season 3 is set to continue adapting the events of The Last of Us: Part II, although showrunner Craig Mazin had previously said that four seasons ‘sounds like a good number‘ for the whole series.

Naughty Dog hasn’t officially announced a third entry in The Last of Us series, although a report back in early 2023 suggested that The Last of Us: Part III is in the works with PS6 ‘in mind,’ although it is also apparently set to launch for PS5, too. A separate report later that year claimed that the game will introduce a number of new characters to the fold, but Ellie is also set to return.
