Here’s How The New Xbox Prices Compare To PS5 & Nintendo Switch 2
With both the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S getting price increases across the world, it suddenly makes the decision about whether to buy one a little trickier – after all, the PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 are enticing options as well.
So, we’ve been taking a quick glance at how Xbox stacks up to Sony and Nintendo’s newest machines, and the results are pretty interesting. The Xbox Series S remains the cheapest way to get a next-gen console, but the Switch 2 suddenly isn’t too far behind, and the Xbox Series X is actually now more expensive than the PS5 in some regions.
Here’s a list of all the prices for Xbox Series, PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 in four major territories:
Console | UK Price | US Price | EU Price | AUD Price |
---|---|---|---|---|
Xbox Series S – 512GB | £299.99 | $379.99 | €349.99 | $549.00 |
Xbox Series S – 1TB | £349.99 | $429.99 | €399.99 | $599.00 |
Nintendo Switch 2 | £395.99 | $449.99 | €469.99 | $699.95 |
PlayStation 5 Digital | £429.99 | $449.99 | €499.99 | $749.95 |
Xbox Series X Digital | £449.99 | $549.99 | €549.99 | $749.00 |
PlayStation 5 | £479.99 | $499.99 | €549.99 | $829.95 |
Xbox Series X | £499.99 | $599.99 | €599.99 | $849.00 |
Xbox Series X – 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition | £589.99 | $729.99 | €699.99 | $1,049.00 |
PlayStation 5 Pro | £699.99 | $699.99 | €799.99 | $1,199.95 |
Of course, we’re biased and think the Xbox Series X and S are the best ways to enjoy current-gen gaming even despite the price hike, but with Xbox bringing more and more first-party games over to other systems these days, we can also understand the argument that picking up a PS5 is still a decent way to enjoy certain Xbox titles.
Xbox Game Pass is really the big plus point when it comes to Xbox though, especially considering some first-party titles will be going up to $80. Sure, you can pay a tiny bit less for a PS5 than an Xbox Series X, or get a shiny new Switch 2 for just a bit more than an Xbox Series S, but if you’re planning to enjoy any Xbox first-party titles at all on those devices, it’s going to be expensive – unless you’re happy to wait for some deep discounts, of course.
Anyway, what do you think about these prices? Is Xbox still the best value for money in your opinion? Let us know down in the comments below.
