Skate Is Not Going To Be Playable Offline As Full Circle Reconfirms Early Access Launch For 2025

Skate developer Full Circle revealed during a series of new Q&As that the game will not be playable offline, and reconfirmed that its early access period will kick off in 2025.

Among the details confirmed during The Grind developer blogs include Cross-Play, as well as the confirmation that any in-game currency that you spend during the current playtests will be returned to you for the release of early access.

We are still planning on launching in Early Access later this year. We have an ambitious vision for Skate – an ever-growing, ever-evolving skateboarding sandbox that expands over time with the feedback of the players living in San Vansterdam. Our Early Access launch will only be Day One of that experience, a starting point from which new features, improvements, and content will be added over time.

However, it also revealed that Skate won’t feature an offline mode, with the online connection required due to the evolving nature of the game’s city. You can read the statement below:

The simple answer – No. The game and city are designed to be a living, breathing massively multiplayer skateboarding sandbox that is always online and always evolving. You’ll see bigger things evolve, like changes to the city over time, as well as smaller things, like live events and other in-game activities. In order to deliver on our vision of a skateboarding world, the game will always require a live connection. That is probably not much of a surprise if you’ve been in our playtest.

Elsewhere, the studio also revealed some key stats from the playtest, stating that players have performed more than 16 million kickflips, completed more than 6.5 Challenges, and the longest Grind recorded so far has been more than 200 meters, which is roughly 15 school buses.

The Skate Closed Alpha has been running for a while now, and last month introduced microtransactions with the use of San Van Bucks currency.
