Konami released this NES tactical espionage sequel to Hideo Kojima’s popular debut outing in the series…without his input! In fact, this inspired Kojima to produce his own sequel for the MSX2 which was only released in Japan, while the title we’re looking at here only came out in North America and Europe. The main character was the same, and his name is half of the game’s title. There’s your big hint!

Konami’s run-and-gun series returned to the NES with this arcade port sequel to the first game. Bill and Lance are back once again with three stages exclusive to the NES version. Sadly, there is no Konami code to be found this time. However, a different code will still give you ten lives in the NES version and thirty lives in the Famicom version…no fair! The European name is also way cooler – Probotector II: Return of the Evil Forces.

This Capcom title was the third main entry in a very popular (at least in Japan) series and actually began as a Playstation 3 title before making the shift to Wii. Groups of players band together to take down large beasts, harvesting parts from their bodies to continually upgrade their gear. The main addition in this edition was the ability to travel and fight underwater, with new beasties that took full advantage of that. There were also new weapons like the Switch Axe. With all of the coordination needed, it was a great excuse to use the Wii Speak device to chat with all of your friends!

Square Enix released this 3D action RPG remake of an old Super Famicom title from 1995 on the Nintendo Switch, along with the PlayStation 4 and Windows. The original title, Seiken Densetsu 3, was not released outside of Japan even though the first two titles in the series made their way over to North America. Fight enemies and gain experience on your way to save a certain tree. Not everything about the remake was necessarily a positive as some of the voice acting was grating, particularly Charlotte’s dialogue that has her talking like a baby.
