Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 & 3 Cross-Gen Editions Rated In Australia
The Australian Classification Board has posted up ratings for cross-gen editions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, indicating a re-release of the PS3-era shooters are in the pipeline.
The pair picked up a MA 15+ certificate and were classified as such on April 3, which mentioned a March 2025 production date. While Modern Warfare 2 mentions a ‘PS5 Cross-Gun Edition,’ the rating for Modern Warfare 3 simply mention ‘Cross-Gun Edition.’

It should be noted that it hasn’t been confirmed the ratings pertain to the original 2009 and 2011 versions of MW2 and MW3, respectively, but the fact it doesn’t employ Roman Numerals would suggest it is the older titles and not the rebooted editions.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and its sequel have already been remastered before (at least, the campaigns have) for PS4 and Xbox One, but Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has yet to receive the same treatment. It was rumoured back in 2020 that a remastered version was in the pipeline, but it failed to materialise. As such, it looks like Activision Blizzard is prepping a remaster of 2 & 3 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, which would probably make a quick buck given their enduring popularity.
While on the subject of Call of Duty, this year’s instalment has yet to be announced but is heavily rumoured to be a sequel to Call of Duty: Black Ops II, and will include six round-based Zombie maps during its lifecycle.
