Which MMORPGs Would You Love To Play Natively On Xbox?
Alright, so the other day I was talking about how World of Warcraft plays surprisingly well on Xbox thanks to NVIDIA GeForce Now, and although I do enjoy that way of playing, it would obviously be more beneficial to get a native version.
I’m talking a proper app, installed on my Xbox, that can bring me to World of Warcraft without having to jump through any other hoops. They don’t even have to go all-in with the controller support if they don’t want to (although I know it does have some form of it already) – just let me plug and play with a mouse and keyboard on Xbox!
I think World of Warcraft will get the console treatment eventually (they do want more money, right?), but I’m not so sure about the likes of RuneScape and one of my favourite MMORPGs of all time, Star Wars: The Old Republic. There’s obviously more work involved in providing native apps for those, and even though I’d be perfectly content to play them with a mouse and keyboard as well, I bet there are clauses that say you can’t avoid controller support on Xbox.
Maybe all of this talk about the next Xbox console being more Windows-based gives us some hope though. I’m sure Phil Spencer doesn’t want Xbox fans to be forced into playing these games in the Microsoft Edge browser through a streaming service that isn’t owned by Microsoft! And of course, the allure of enjoying these games natively on a new Xbox console would surely help to shift some units in the next generation.
Who knows what the future holds, but for now, I’m just keen to hear which MMORPGs you’d love to play natively on your Xbox console. Feel free to share your predictions about whether they’ll actually come to fruition in Xbox’s future as well!
