Elden Ring Nightreign Won’t Have “Duos” At Launch, But Adding A 2-Player Queue Is Being Considered

We learned today, at time of writing, that Elden Ring Nightreign will launch this coming May 30, 2025. When it does, players will be able to hop in and battle FromSoftware bosses from previous games, not just Elden Ring, but they’ll only be able to do it either in groups of three, or by themselves.

If you just have one other friend playing with you, then you can still jump in the queue and you’ll be matched with a random third. But there won’t be any “duos” queue for the game at launch. However, that doesn’t mean Nightreign will never have a duos queue.

During a recent media roundtable, speaking to Ungeek, game director on Nightreign, Junya Ishizaki confirmed that the team is considering adding a duos queue later on.

“Regarding having just two players, not three players or solo, it is something we are considering, but it is currently not in the game at the moment.”

So at least its on the table. It would be interesting to see if there’s a significant dynamic switch in the gameplay, with just two players, instead of it being three players or solo.
