Dragonite and the Postman animation releasing on Pokémon Day
Pokémon Day takes place Feb. 27th, 2025, and it’s sure to bring all sorts of exciting reveals and events with it. Today has brought us news of one such surprise, and it comes in the form of a special animation.
Pokémon Co. and CoMix Wave Films have revealed Dragonite and the Mailman, an animated feature that will release on the official Pokémon YouTube Channel February 27th, 2025. CoMix Wave Films has worked on major anime projects such as Your Name, Suzume, Weathering With You and many others. This animation will be directed by Taku Kimura from Studio Lemon.
Dragonite and the Mailman will tell the story of Hana, a young girl who dreams of being a mail carrier. When Hana received an unaddressed letter, she starts an adventure to find out who it came from. Along with her partner Fuecoco, Hana discovers that a boy named Rio is behind the letter. Rio had sent the letter to celebrate his father’s birthday, as he didn’t want his father to celebrate alone.
The song “Paper Airplane” will serve as Dragonite and the Mailman’s theme, and it’s performed by suis from Yorushika, with music composed by Evan Call, who handled soundtracks on anime like Violet Evergarden, My Happy Marriage, and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End.
